Mr. John R. Hamilton is President of J. Hamilton & Associates LLC, which provides management consulting and technical support to businesses and nonprofit organizations in Northern Alabama with emphasis in the defense industry and international trade. Prior to assuming his current position Mr. Hamilton served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Taos Industries Inc., a subsidiary of Agility Defense and Government Services (DGS). Taos provides global logistical services to the U.S. Department of Defense including supply of military hardware and spare parts, base operations, reutilization and marketing services, and logistical support for contingency operations. As CEO he was responsible for all aspects of the business including strategic planning, financial performance, operations, and business development.

Mr. Hamilton joined Taos Industries as Vice President for Business Development in 1994 during its formative years as a small business. In 1996 he became a partner in the company and was promoted to Chief Operating Officer where he assumed responsibility for all business operations and strategic planning. He was appointed as President in 2005 and CEO in 2006. Taos was acquired by Agility, a global logistics enterprise in 2006 and Mr. Hamilton was retained as CEO.  Under his leadership, the company grew from a small supplier of U.S. military parts to a global business operating in over twenty countries and with annual revenue exceeding $120 million dollars. The company was honored in 2003 as the Huntsville and Madison County Small Business of the Year. In 2005, Mr. Hamilton was selected by the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce as Small Business Executive of the Year. He was a finalist for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Alabama-Tennessee and Georgia region in 2006. He retired from Agility in 2009 and formed J Hamilton & Associates where he provides consulting services.

Prior to joining Taos, Mr. Hamilton served for twenty-two years as an officer in the U.S. Army. His assignments included service in Vietnam where he was wounded in action, as a Research and Development staff officer with the Abrams tank program, and on the personal staff of the Secretary of the Army. As Deputy Program Manager he was the lead for the first major foreign sale of the Abrams Tank, a $3.2 billion dollar acquisition by Saudi Arabia.  He also served as the principal U.S. representative to the NATO panel for combat vehicle standardization. Mr. Hamilton ended his career as Army Program Manager for the M113 Family of Vehicles, where he was responsible for the design, production, and logistical support of a worldwide fleet of over 30,000 armored vehicles and an annual budget of over $350 million. Following his retirement from the Army in 1991 as a Lieutenant Colonel, Mr. Hamilton spent three years managing the development of advanced combat vehicle survivability technologies as a Program Manager for Teledyne Brown Engineering.

Mr. Hamilton is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point where he studied engineering and the University of Southern California where he holds a Masters Degree in Systems Management. He is also a graduate of the Defense University where he studied Program Management and has completed both the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff Colleges. He serves on the Board of Directors of the International Services Council of Alabama, the  North Alabama International Trade Association, and the Heart of the Valley YMCA Association.
